Meeting with Vinacomin Cao Son Coal Joint Stock Company

From 2 June 2015 to 3 June 2015, the task force of Vinacomin Industry Investment Consulting Joint Stock Company led by Deputy Director Le Viet Phuong had a working session with Vinacomin Cao Son Coal Joint Stock Company with regard to working out the design of a drainage system for Bang Nau dump.

Bang Nau dump survey

Bang Nau dump has an area of 510 hectares, capacity of 600 Mm3 and maximum dumping elevation of + 300 m. This is a common dump of three openpits namely Cao Son, Khe Cham II and Dong Da Mai.

After working at the office of Vinacomin Cao Son Coal Joint Stock Company, the VIMCC task force visited and surveyed Bang Nau dump. At present, the openpits are carrying out dumping at levels of + 180 and + 200 in the direction of Northwest bordering the upstream of Bang Tay spring of Duong Huy commune (bordering the 18B old road). The current dumping situation shows that  small water storage lakes and upstream spring branches of Bang Tay spring are being filled up, leading an obstruction of flows to Bang Nau spring and Mong Duong river. In rainy season, the natural flow of Bang Tay spring upstream does not run into Bang Nau spring and Mong Duong river to the east, it is likely to accumulate at the western area of Bang Tay spring. If any high rainfall happens, such rain water will not be discharged in a timely manner; as a result, flooding may happen, which leads to negative impacts on the cultivation soil area and households living along Bang Tay spring, Duong Huy commune, Cam Pha city, Quang Ninh province.

Ending the working trip, the VIMCC task force reached an agreement with the leadership of Vinacomin Cao Son Coal Joint Stock Company on the related problems in order to find out solutions to such problems, ensure the stable production of the openpits and ensure ecological safety for regional people.
