THE 24TH NATIONWIDE MINING SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE

In the green economy development trend, Vietnam Mining Science and Technology Association organized the 24th nationwide mining science and technology conference with the subject “Green growth in mineral activities of Vietnam” from 8 August 2014 to 9 August 2014 in Vung Tau city, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province in order to make practical contribution to the green development of the mineral industry of Vietnam.

The conference was attended by members of the Association’s Central Committee; former members of the Association’s Central Committee; Association’s branches; distinguished guests of the Association’s Central Committee; scientists, authors and co-authors who have scientific reports published in the Collection.

The delegation of Vinacomin Industry Investment Consulting Joint Stock Company was led by Mr. Do Hong Nguyen - Director and Chairman of Management Board.

The organization board and scientific board of the conference received over 150 scientific reports of over 300 authors and co-authors who are scientists and managers from universities, research institutes, consulting units, etc, especially some scientific reports from production enterprises of Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited and Vietnam Oil and Gas group.

However, in order to comply with the conference’s subject and the framework of the collection of reports, the organization board and scientific board of the conference picked out 95 typical reports to put into the Collection.  The reports are arranged in the following parts:

1.      Green growth in mineral activities;

2.      Geo-informatic and geo-mechanic techniques;

3.      Open-pit mining technology;

4.      Underground mining technology;

5.      Mine construction;

6.      Mineral resource processing and use;

7.      Mine safety and ventilation;

8.      Mine electro-mechanic work.

It was a great honor of VIMCC that the organization board and scientific board of the conference selected three reports and published them in the Collection, namely:

1. Method of ensuring water sources and solutions to combining coal mining activities with protecting the environment and natural landscape at the Nam Trang Bach coal mine region prepared by Do Hong Nguyen and other authors;

2. Primary orientations of investment in exploiting Co Dinh chromite ore mine in Thanh Hoa province prepared by Le Duc Phuong and other authors;

3. Impacts of mineral mining industry on climate changes and minimization measures prepared by Tran Thi My Dung and other authors.

Speaking at the conference, Vinacomin Chairman of Member Council and President Le Minh Chuan reported the key features of production situation of Vinacomin in recent times and development orientations in the next period. He also suggested that the conference needed to focus on measures to reduce cost prices and improve business and production efficiency of the mining industry.
