Grassroots-level council meeting about scientific research and technological development

On April 27th, 2015 Vinacomin Industry Investment Consulting Joint Stock Company organized the acceptance of the project for researching, surveying and evaluating the capacity of proposal of transport option of Vanh Danh – Khe Ngat railway line to meet the mine’s transport requirement according to the regulations.

Attending the meeting was Mr. Le Van Duan – Vice Director of VIMCC, along with members of the Scientific Council, Project Board as well as managers and deputy managers of departments.

The Uong Bi’s coalfield includes Vanh Danh mine, Nam Mau mine, Dong Vong mine and VietMinDo mine. They are big mines in Uong Bi.  Nowadays, coal of Uong Bi’s coal mines is transported by two methods, ie automobile and railway to supply coal for Uong Bi Thermal Power Plant and to consumption ports (mainly Dien Cong Port).

Because of some subjective and objective conditions, the scale and progress of constructing works for preparation and transport in the area have many changes against the planning as below:

Khe Than Preparation Plant and Vang Danh  Preparation Plant No.2 have not been built.

The raw-coal of Dong Vong and VietMinDo mines at these mines, then transported by truck to the Khe Than coal transfer station. From the Khe Than coal transfer station, coal is transported by railroad car.

The external transport system of Nam Mau mine: Khe Than Preparation Plant has not been built, so the belt conveyor line is moved to the Khe Than station to transport finished coal of Nam Mau coal mime and then such coal is transfered onto the railroad cars.

The double-road system of Lan Thap – Uong Bi, railway system, coal discharging belt conveyors at Khe Than have been invested, upgraded and put into operation.

The external transport work of Uong Bi’s mines is mainly by railway through the key stations such as: Vang Danh station, Khe Than station and Lan Thap station.

The Khe Than coal terminal storage is built at the Nam Mau transfer station on a long term scale. This is consistent with the period before and after constructing Khe Than Preparation Plant, meeting the mode of transferring coal onto railway cars by belt conveyor in combination with truck.

In general, in order to match with the current situation and take advantage of the capacity of the transport system of ongoing projects (such as external transport system of Nam Mau mine, coal transfer station of Nam Mau mine, railway systems of Vang Danh-Lan Thap-Uong Bi and Khe Than-Lan Thap) and meet regional transport requirements, it is neccessary to investigate, research and evaluate the transport capacity of the Vang Danh – Khe Ngat railway line in order to propose a resonable transport option when the capacity of mines increases.

As for evaluating the research results, the members of the Council said that the project proposed logical approaches, the research contents met the objectives and scope of the research. The Council highly appreciated the research spirit and progress of the research team. The Council unanimously accepted the contents. At the same time, the Council hoped that the research team would promote the working spirit to complete the project as soon as possible.
